Whist there are many tales woven about the Red Company, not a few centre on the Children of Rossiel; kin from the hidden sanctuary at Esteldin who rose to challenge both the servants of the White Wizard and the Dark Tower. Most of them were brother and sister, and aided by a few allies of the Dunedain, they travelled extensively through Eriador and brought battle to the enemies of the Free Peoples. It was the Children of Rossiel who; along with the Red Company, were instrumental in the freeing of Fornost and Annuminas and the defeat of Morodrith.
Red Company Dedicated Raid Group
The Red Company has been running raid evenings for a number of months now with some success, but we are repeatedly frustrated in our attempts to organise events in advance because the event chosen is invariably an attempt to accommodate a mixed group of character levels and abilities that show up. Characters in the kin are now concentrated primarily in three level ranges: Starting (15-25), Moria (55-65), and endgame (100). This makes it difficult to build any RP around the instanced/raid events so little is added to the kinship experience as a whole. In recent discussions I have advocated building a raid group with alternate characters that start at level 1, employ XP disablers when needed, and can advance from one raid area to another as a group. This would also make it easier to build interesting RP.
The raid group would consist of 6-10 characters of varying classes (a larger group gives redundancy in case players cannot attend raid events). In keeping with our kinship most of the characters would be Dunedain and: • Would use names that suggested a family relationship to each other ( names to be agreed between players). • Would choose physical characteristics broadly similar (hair and eye colour, build etc. - obviously there could be exceptions) • Such a relationship would be organised in game in the family/social panel *and* in character biography. • In keeping with Middle Earth lore, would employ spears as their primary weapon (when allowed by class limitations obviously). • Would employ the Kinship uniform cosmetics. The Children of Rossiel would not necessarily quest together - it is up to individual players to get their characters to the right levels, but they would instance/raid together.
• Turbine Points - There is a huge number of TP tied up in instance/raid deeds that many players don't access - these are normally exploration/item deeds that the group can do together whilst in the instances. Slayer deeds are also in some instances, but these generally require deed accelerators to complete. • Raid skills - As Turbine has announced that we are to get more instances/raids at higher levels, actual raid skills need to be developed. This group will turn even a complete novice into a raid capable player. • Evolving RP/story - Tracking a related group of characters as they both advance in level and travel through Middle Earth will be fertile ground for RP and character development.
• An alternate character slot - that can be dedicated to the raid group. • An XP disabler (100TP)- to be used on the character when required. • Unlocked virtue slots (VIPs get this automatically) -all virtue slots must be unlocked for proper raid play. This can be done through use of TPs (or if you get VIP for even one month, the slots unlock and *stay* unlocked). • Headset - for TS use, at the minimum so you can hear what's going on. A microphone is useful, but not compulsory.
Other classes are of course welcome - RuneKeeper, Champion, Loremaster). If taking one of the classes, players must be prepared to learn their class properly, work on their virtues (particularly for the Guardian and Minstrel) - otherwise no raid group can function properly.

This is a great idea. Only, before it can get started, there might be some work and organization yet. I suppose you're insisting that all volunteers will write their comments here now. In a certain point, I must join this. I must force my main too to lvl more quickly and i need to make haste. ( if i wants to keep this special raid group before) I'd join, but it will cause a large time of absence for everything I'll need to grind. (Quest and skirmishes, disabler, virtues, char slot...) but i am actually very enthousiast. I like the warden a lot, and in raids I'd mostly like to still play this class. But i don't know yet, it's just if i want to shine, it is as a warden. Warden and me are one... But it feels strange, as my main is already a warden and i am pretty sure there might be others playing a warden too. On the other side, it is a positive poknt for this that it is all with spears. I really don't know how other classes will be with spears. I always use a sword, for great advantages: +5% damage modifier by man trait and naturaly +2% damage and parry thanks to class. I just don't feel me so bound to other classes, surely not in raids. As you noticed, i made great lvl 20 gear for my main, comptetely with my own alts. Helping the kinship, i'd help as much as possible to get such a gear for the others too... But this is only the case if this party is lvling very slow, if you wants profit. (But i still hope so that i can be a warden for raids!!!)

As far as respectability of a town, the burglar is like the opposite of a captain. Maybe my burglar could be the brother of the captain, and they chose divergent paths in life. If we want siblings, that's about as good a rivalry as it gets.
This raid group gets organized fast. So we have already a ministrel, warden, burglar, guardian and captain. The past day, i have thought a lot about what i would be. But i realised that i couldn't imagine a lot else very different from my main that i would find awesome to play with. (Obviously the reason why it is my main) Since I understand that this group will be set up especially to syncronize our levels, i will plan for myself a similar char as my main. (To still have the impression to play with my main. It would be odd to not actively raid with my main) so probably I'll create a dunadan copy. To fit in the proposed lore, I'd turn my green eyes into blue eyes in this copy. Probably i will turn my blonde hair to black or brown, if this doesn't turn out to too fierce eyebrows. White/grey hair looks unlikely and only recommended for elder people. As Adilyr insists, i will use a spear instead of a sword. I hope there will come more volunteers yet. I know it isn't a goal, but for one time it looks to be an opportunity to do stuff in the areas as well. Surely if we aren't hasted. I only wonders, are spears such a good ideas? For a lot of classes, does it not looks odd when they are swinging with a spear as they would do with a sword? And is there an idea about how fast this raid group would lvl up? (I'm sure i will get more questions in my mind in the future.) and is this actual a kind of replacement of the current raids? There is really no space anymore to place yet extra weekly events. I barely get the time to develop and to grind for myself...
I'm not too keen on the all spear idea, since different weapons give different bonuses. Daggers often give agility bonuses, which is why they're good for burglars and hunters. My guy will be using daggers and possibly swords.
I orginally said I'd like to heal, but I'm not so sure about that now - I'd like to do a support class, but the only real scope for that in fellowships is healing. atm, I'm thinking either a hunter or LM.

And which class is a power healer? As a warden, i found that i really got troubles with that in longer fights. And why can the support of loremasters not be usefull? Just because it takes out the space of another more intersting char in a fellowship? By the way, are these children meant to be of the kin of the dunedain?
Thank you all for the points raised; Theogorn in particular raises some excellent issues. I'm pleased that there has been some interest this early and I'm confident that we can put together a good raid group that will enhance everyone's experience of LOTRO.
I think the best way to approach this is for me to put together some F.A.Q. which I can pin here as a separate thread. It will save us all time, and will cover everything from "Why the emphasis on spears"? to "Where can I find a list of virtue deeds for my character"?

That would be an awesome idea. There's much to discus yet. I even would point out that I'd more support originality in rp, but i see that we already have our mains for that and that for a special dedicated group it is a great opportunity to creat background storied who are related with each member of this group. I hope that most of the questions will be answered in the F.A.Q and then we're able to discuss again with a more clear idea. (And what will be expected of us. Requierements etc...) By the way, who is Rossiel? That might be the begin of whole this story...
Please have your character decisions (class, name, some background etc.) completed for the evening of Monday, 6th April. We will then finalise the raid roster and start working on levelling and virtues. This time also allows kinsmen to experiment with different classes if they wish.
I will post additional info in the coming days (F.A.Q. etc.) and some RP fiction to establish the tone and background of the group.
Was wondering if an Elf found wandering and with no recollection of her past, that was tutored as a hunter,explorer and taken in by the Children of Rossiel would be allowed? Really enjoying my hunter and she is pretty much good to go (she has one trait at a value of 7 at 23rd!) If a problem then no problem.
What level should I freeze my character at? I'm thinking 21 or 23. We get points at every odd level, the quests for GB are 23-24, and the mobs in LL start at 22. Some people stop at 20, and I did too with my main, but I couldn't jump into ND right away because of level 25 mobs.
